GTS Students win Wireless Wanderlust Competition at IEEE ISIT2025

Dr. Alejandro Lancho, along with students Rodrigo Oliver Coimbra and Ricardo Vázquez Álvarez from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, took part in this year’s Wireless Wanderlust Data to Information (D2I) Competition at IEEE ISIT 2025, held from June 22 to 27 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The team obtained first place in this international competition.

The challenge proposed in this edition focused on semi-supervised indoor positioning. Participants worked with Channel State Information (CSI) gathered by multiple remote antennas and transmitted via a grant-free random access channel. The task involved designing methods to accurately infer the positions of users within an indoor environment based on the received signals at a central processing unit.

The team from GTS Group at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid presented a solution that achieved the highest performance among the participating groups. Their approach demonstrated effective integration of signal processing and data-driven techniques to address the problem proposed in the competition.
