Sinérgicos R&D Grants by Comunidad de Madrid

GTS Group in Universidad Carlos III de Madrid is pleased to announce that we are included in the provisional resolution of the Sinérgicos R&D grants awarded by Comunidad de Madrid. These grants support disruptive, frontier research projects carried out by two research groups from universities and research institutions in the region, working across two different sub-areas within six scientific-technical fields. As part of this call, the project CARE-CM (Generalist Medical AI for Clinical Assessment and Risk Evaluation in Suicide Prevention) has been provisionally selected. The project aims to develop a Generalist Medical Artificial Intelligence (GMAI) model for suicide risk assessment and management. By integrating data from electronic health records (EHR), digital phenotyping, and the exposome, the initiative seeks to enhance early detection and deliver personalized interventions. The project will develop foundational deep learning models for time series and advanced data fusion algorithms to generate explainable digital biomarkers, supporting clinical decision-making across care settings. Validation will involve both retrospective and prospective observational studies to ensure its real-world applicability in suicide prevention.

Universidade de Vigo to Host the 11th Spanish Workshop on Signal Processing, Information Theory and Communication (SIC’25)

On July 1st and 2nd, 2025, the University of Vigo will welcome the 11th edition of the Spanish Workshop on Signal Processing, Information Theory and Communication (SIC’25). The event will bring together researchers and professionals to discuss the latest developments in signal processing, learning algorithms, information theory, communications, and their applications.

The preliminary program includes plenary talks, specialized seminars, and a poster session aimed at Ph.D. students and post-doctoral researchers. The organizing committee warmly encourages all participants to take part in the poster session and share their ongoing research.

Further details about the event and its program are available in the dedicated section of the website.

GTS Students win Wireless Wanderlust Competition at IEEE ISIT2025

We are pleased to share that professor Alejandro Lancho with Rodrigo Oliver Coimbra and Ricardo Vázquez Álvarez, research associates at the GTS Group in Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, won this year’s Data to Information (D2I) Competition at the prestigious IEEE ISIT 2025 conference, held from June 22 to 27 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The competition challenged participants to tackle a semi-supervised indoor positioning problem. Using Channel State Information (CSI) captured by multiple remote antennas and transmitted over a grant-free random access channel, teams were tasked with accurately inferring user positions within an indoor environment. Rodrigo and Ricardo’s innovative and precise solution stood out among international teams, earning them first place in this highly competitive event.

IDEA-CM project funded by Comunidad de Madrid

We are pleased to announce the launch of the research project «IDEA-CM», funded by the Community of Madrid under the program Artificial Intelligence for Industry 4.0: Data Generation, Advanced Modeling, Optimization, and Interpretability. This initiative will be led by a consortium formed by some of Madrid’s leading universities: Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM).

The project aims to advance the application of artificial intelligence techniques in industrial processes, focusing on data-driven modeling, optimization, and the development of interpretable AI systems. This research initiative holds great potential for contributing to the digital transformation of industry in the region.

This project begun in January, 2025 and will be running till December 2029.
