Sinérgicos R&D Grants by Comunidad de Madrid

We are pleased to announce that the GTS Research Group from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) has been included in the provisional resolution of the Sinérgicos R&D grants awarded by the Community of Madrid. These highly competitive grants are designed to support disruptive, frontier research projects carried out jointly by two research groups from universities and research institutions within the region. Each collaborative project must involve teams working in two different sub-areas within six broader scientific-technical fields, fostering interdisciplinary innovation.

Within this framework, the CARE-CM project (Generalist Medical AI for Clinical Assessment and Risk Evaluation in Suicide Prevention), coordinated by the GTS group, has been provisionally selected. The project aims to develop a Generalist Medical Artificial Intelligence (GMAI) model to support the assessment and management of suicide risk. By integrating information from electronic health records (EHR), digital phenotyping, and the exposome, the initiative seeks to improve early detection capabilities and enable the personalization of interventions for individuals at risk.

The research will focus on developing foundational deep learning models for time series analysis and advanced data fusion algorithms, generating explainable digital biomarkers to assist clinical decision-making at different levels of healthcare. The proposed system will be validated through both retrospective and prospective observational studies, ensuring its practical applicability in real-world suicide prevention scenarios. This project represents a significant step towards more precise, data-driven mental health care solutions in the Community of Madrid.
